今日の投稿はスペシャルなお知らせです。インパートメントさんから7/9に発売されるアルバムの日本国内盤リリースに携わりました。ジェラルド・シタモランの『ソリチュード』というソロ・ギター作品です。ライナーノーツも書かせて頂きました。（カワズ）
Please let me announce a special news today. On 9th of July, a Tokyo record production label 'Inpartment' will release a CD titled "Solitude" of Gerald Situmorang. This time I was directly involved the release project of the Japan edition of this album, and also I wrote the liner notes of it.
ジェラルド・シタモランはジャカルタで活動するジャズギタリストで、すでにインドネシアのさまざまな音楽シーンで活動実績のある人物です。恐らくあまり知られていない音楽家だと思いますが、同じくインドネシアで活動する女性シンガー、モニタ・タハレアの昨年発表されたアルバム『ダンデライオン』でプロデューサーを務めた人物ですので、コアな音楽ファンはどこかで耳にしたことがあるかも知れません。その作品は日本でもいくつかの音楽メディアから称賛を浴びました。デュオやトリオやバンドで何枚かアルバムをリリースしていますが、本作『ソリチュード』はジェラルドにとって初のソロ名義の作品となります。
『ソリチュード』は、そのタイトルの通り、彼ひとりによるギターの独奏で構成されています。ボーカルは入っていませんが、正坐をして聴くような堅苦しさは全くありません。その繊細でシンプルでメロウな旋律には、リラックスした親しみ易さが溢れています。まるで南米のネオ・フォルクローレを聴いているような切なさの宿る空気感は、カルロス・アギーレをはじめとする静かなる音楽とも共鳴するものです。きっとbar buenos airesやクワイエット・コーナーの音楽に親しんでいる方ならうってつけの一枚だと思います。
2015年、afterglowは同じくインドネシアのギターデュオ、マルコマルシェの『ウォームハウス』を紹介させて頂き、福岡のみならず全国のリスナーに届けることができました。『ソリチュード』は、それ以来約2年振りとなります。マルコマルシェの時のように、本作もまた多くの方々の耳に届くことを願って止みません。
今作の国内盤リリースは、インパートメントのディレクター稲葉さんの多大なる尽力のお陰です。厚く御礼を申し上げます。ありがとうございました。
Gerald Situmorang is a jazz guitarist based in Jakarta, and has already performed well in various music scenes in Indonesia since 2010. Probably few Japanese have heard his name before, but some might unconsciously know him through an Indonesian singer Monita Tahalea's 2nd album called "Dandelion" as his work. He roled a producer of the album and it was received favorite reviews by several music media in Japan. Though he has already released a couple of albums as duo, trio, and a band, "Solitude" is his debut album as a solist.
As indicated by the album title, "Solitude" is made up only by his acoustic guitar. There is no vocal in all tracks, but it is not like serious nor scholastic music. Instead, you can feel an intimate and relax moods through the sensitive and simple melodies. The melancholic atmosphere would remind you of the current South American folklore music (as represented by Carlos Aguirre etc), and at the same time deeply resonated with other quiet music. If you are fan of the music which has been introduced by such as "bar buenos aires" or "QUIET CORNER", I believe "Solitude" is the perfect album for you.
In 2015, my wife and I introduced the album "Warm House" of an Indonesian folk duo MarcoMarche to listeners not only in Fukuoka but also nationwide. Needless to say, "Solitude" is definitely our next 'highly-recommended-album'. As for the release of Japan edition of "Solitude", none of this would have been possible without Inaba san, who is a director of Inpartmaint Inc. May I please express my appreciation for him.
